A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
Even those who haven’t read Shakespeare have often heard of the infamous warning to Beware the Ides of March, spoken by the Soothsayer in Julius Caesar.
The 15th of March marks the day of the assassination of Julius Caesar, not only an earthshattering historical event that led to Rome’s transformation from a Republic to an imperial system, but also the focus of one of Shakespeare’s most memorable plays.
In honor of the memorable date, I made some bookmarks for Martin and myself as we’re going through our read-through. I also posted the PDF on Patreon a few days ago, so my followers could make their own.

But then, I had an even brighter idea, inspired by the infamous backstabbing. Instead of turning them into bookmarks, why not print a stack of these and tape them onto the backs of my unsuspecting friends, family, and students? During our poetry club on Thursday and all of my English classes on Friday, I attempted to sneak them onto people’s backs, like the old “kick me” sign trick, but with more literary flair and a warning to watch one’s back on the 15th!
Want to have some fun as well? Head over to Patreon to download and print the PDF yourself and stick them to the backs of your friends and family as well! Or make them bookmarks. Whatever suits your fancy.
Have a nice Ides of March, and watch your back!
